  1. How much weight can I lose in one week with Dr. Klauer’s Everyday Nutrition shakes?

    Weight loss is dependent on metabolism and diet.  Daily caloric intake should be approximately 1200 calories. To help your metabolism, be sure to exercise 1 hour daily, don’t skip meals, drink 10 glasses of water daily and get adequate sleep. My Everyday Nutrition shakes can assist your metabolism by supplying high quality whey protein, omega 3 fats, calcium and good amounts of required vitamins and minerals. Weight is lost more rapidly at the beginning of a weight reduction plan because of water retention. After the first week on a diet plan, a safe and steady weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs. per week is normal.

  2. Do Dr. Klauer’s Everyday Nutrition shakes have an appetite suppressant, as I do not feel hungry after drinking a shake?

    My Everyday Nutrition shakes are specially formulated to control hunger naturally, and do not contain artificial appetite suppressants.  The typical American diet, be it a meal or a snack, is normally high in sugar, and this stimulates hunger.

  3. Can I jump-start my diet?

    Seeing an immediate drop on the scale is motivating. It makes you realize that your goal is attainable. In my office practice I encourage patients to begin aggressively with a jump-start. Research studies have shown that a fast initial weight loss helps continued success.

    Follow these principles:
    • Substitute an Everyday Nutrition shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch. Include an afternoon snack of a piece of fruit with 2 ounces of cheese or plain fat free yogurt. For dinner, a salad lightly dressed and 4 - 6 ounces of lean protein and vegetables.
    • Do not skip meals. Keep an interval of 4 hours between meals; this prevents excess hunger.
    • Drink 10 glasses of water daily. Mineral water will provide extra calcium.
    • Do not eat or drink anything except water or herbal tea after dinner.

  4. Should I weigh myself daily?

    Because body weight can fluctuate due to salt intake and hormonal levels, daily weighing during a weight loss program is not recommended. Thousands of years of evolution have programmed your body to hold on to its fat stores, a fact that is discouraging to anyone who is trying to lose weight. To avoid disappointment, weigh yourself only once per week. Weigh yourself first thing in the morning, undressed.

  5. What about exercise? Do I really need to exercise? What kind of exercise is best?

    Aerobic exercise is essential to losing weight. In addition to burning calories, aerobic exercise lifts your spirits, benefits your muscles and bones, improves your cholesterol profile and lowers blood pressure. You feel energetic and vital. It is the single best habit that you can cultivate. Like many things in life, the hard part is just getting started.
    Individuals who exercise in the morning are 40% more consistent with the exercise habit. They just wake up and get their exercise done. The benefit of this is: you don’t have to worry about exercise during the day, because it’s already done.
    As to type of exercise, the best type is the type you enjoy. The treadmill, elliptical machine, stationary bicycle, and rowing machine are great pieces of equipment. Try them all. The key is to get moving daily.

  6. What about alcohol? I enjoy having a cocktail before dinner.

    While trying to lose weight it is best not to drink alcohol. Alcohol contains empty calories. It acts in the brain to relieve inhibitions, so that the resolve to forgo tempting foods is weakened. I suggest giving up alcohol while on a diet.

  7. Can I use Dr. Klauer’s Everyday Nutrition shakes for all my meals?

    I do not recommend that you use the shakes as a sole source of nutrition. Everyday Nutrition shakes are designed to help you to lose weight by substituting for 2 meals or 2 meals and a snack. You should eat a healthy lunch or dinner with 4 – 5 ounces of lean protein,(fish, chicken or lean meat),  vegetables and a salad. Everyday Nutrition shakes will supply nutrients your body needs to lose weight safely and efficiently, but they are not designed to replace food entirely.

  8. Do I need to take vitamins while I am losing weight?

    Everyday Nutrition shakes supply a good amount of the daily level of vitamins and minerals.  Two shakes plus a snack and a healthy dinner will likely satisfy your daily requirement for all vitamins.

  9. Once I have lost the weight, can I still use Dr. Klauer’s Everyday Nutrition shakes?

    When you reach your goal weight, you should transition over to eating regular food. The main concept to keep in mind is nutrition content. Make sure that each meal contains lean protein and fresh vegetables. Calcium from dairy products will help keep your weight down, so include yogurt, skim milk or low fat cheese. Many people find having my Everyday Nutrition shakes in place of a meal or as a snack is helpful.
